Microsoft has already started rolling out Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to Windows 10 PCs across the world in phases, starting with the latest devices.
“As with the Creators Update, the key to our phased approach is actively listening to all available feedback mechanisms and making the appropriate product updates during the rollout. This allows us to provide a high-quality experience for the broadest set of users at an accelerated rate, while also continually increasing the quality and security of Windows 10. This was our approach with the Creators Update released in April and user feedback on this approach was very positive.”
Microsoft recommends that you should wait until Windows 10 is automatically offered to your device, for the best experience. The new update will automatically roll out, and you do not have to do anything to get the update. This update will automatically be installed on your device, through the Windows Update.
Once the download is complete and the update is ready to be installed, you will get a notification on your PCs, allowing you to pick the right time so as to finish the installation and the reboot. This is done so that the update if done automatically does not disrupt your work. Microsoft offers active hours so as to help you to suggest a good time, for the new update to install.
However, if you can’t wait for the new update to roll out to your PCs, you can conduct a manual update on your personal PC using the steps given below. This will however only work if your device is eligible to get the Fall Creators Update, as part of the initial rollout phase. You can also go on to manually update via the Software Download Site, however, this option is only recommended for advanced users.
Tips to get Windows 10 Fall Creators Update
When you go on to manually check if your device is part of the first phase rollout, it is necessary for you to check for updates on the Windows Update settings page.
In the Search tab, type “Settings”. On the Settings page, navigate to Update & security > Windows Update.
Simply click on Check for updates on the Windows Update. This will also ensure that your device is up to date with the latest monthly security updates.
If your device is part of the first phase rollout, the feature update will start downloading immediately; however, you will still be able to use your PC freely, while the update is downloading in the background.
If the update does not start downloading after you have clicked on ‘Check for Updates’ on the Windows Update page, you see a message stating, “Your device is up to date.” This means that currently, your device has all the updates that it is eligible for. Microsoft requests its users to patiently wait for the automatic rollout of ‘Fall Creators Update.’
Steps to update manually for advanced users
Advanced users will need to have two manual installation options. Microsoft recommends to utilize the Update Assistant method. To do so, you need to click on Update Now button on the Software Download Site, and you will also require a licensed version of Windows 10 to use this method so as to get the feature update. You will also be able to download and run the Media Creation Tool on the same site, which will help in a clean installation or reinstallation of Windows 10.
If anyone of you goes on to manually update the latest Fall Creators Update, let us know in the comment section below. Wish you a smooth and clear update.
